The Dispatcher / Communications Officer responds to both emergency and routine radio and telephone communications, performs computerized data entry and retrieval, monitors alarms and surveillance cameras, and remotely control building openings and closings.

Requires high school education, extensive background investigation, and a drug screen. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive situations. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently. Ability to interact professionally and effectively with diverse publics is required. Possess accurate typing skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Ability to read and understand maps, directions, and spatial relationships. Familiarity with computers, specifically data entry is necessary. Strong commitment to providing top-quality custome service. The ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and assigned overtime hours is required. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Familiarity with criminal justice / law enforcement systems, including the TIME system, and CJIS security requirements, is preferred.
