The Program Manager for the Institute for Faith Leadership and Service (IFLS) plays a key role in advancing the Institutes mission to integrate faith leadership and service across APU and with external partners. This position provides mid-level program leadership supporting the execution of multiple IFLS initiativesincluding the Cornerstones Project Faith & Service Initiatives Childrens Faith Initiative and Thriving in Ministry programs.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director and collaborates with the Operations Manager and Director of Grants Management to ensure programs are effectively implemented evaluated and documented. The Program Manager supervises student workers reflecting a clearly defined scope between strategy and logistics within the Institute.
This position is fully grant-funded and contingent on grant funding.
Required Education
- Bachelors degree required in a related field (leadership psychology ministry education or business).
- Masters degree preferred.
Required Experience
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in program management administration or similar professional settings.Experience managing projects staff or workflow systems preferred. Experience in higher education nonprofit or faith-based organizational environments is desirable.Primary Duties / Essential Functions
Program Execution Workflow Management and Implementation :
Provides hands-on leadership for the planning and management of IFLS initiatives ensuring that projects move efficiently from concept to completion.
Translates strategic direction from Executive Director into clear work plans timelines and deliverables for the program team.Monitors progress toward institutional priorities and grant objectives maintaining consistent systems for tracking performance deliverables and impact data.Supports the Operations Manager by managing program-level executionensuring that key milestones reports and outcomes are met while the Operations Manager focuses on institute-wide strategy partnerships and long-range sustainability.Provides guidance and accountability to student staff responsible for daily implementation.Identifies and resolves workflow barriers improves operational efficiency and ensures programs are delivered with quality and consistency.Strategic Project Development :
Collaborates with the Executive Director Operations Manager and Director of Grants Management to design and refine project systems that align with Institute goals.
Contributes to planning meetings program data tracking annual reports and grant updates by supplying data progress summaries and evaluation insights.Supports the launch and documentation of new programs or cohorts by developing implementation tools processes and evaluation methods aligned with grant requirements.Budget and Grant Support :
Works under the guidance of the Executive Director and collaborates with the Operations Manager and Director of Grants Management to track budgets reconcile expenses and maintain accurate documentation for both restricted and unrestricted funds.
Prepares draft reports expenditure summaries and updates for internal and external audiences.Ensures project spending and reporting align with grant timelines and compliance expectations.Student Worker Supervision :
Supervises student employees.
Provides mentorship feedback task assignments and accountability.Ensures student work supports project goals and timelines.Fosters a mission-centered professional environment that supports growth and learning.Operational Systems and Process Improvement :
Assists the Operations Manager in building and refining administrative systems that enhance efficiency and transparency across programs.
Develops and maintains project tracking tools standard operating procedures (SOPs) and communication frameworks used by the broader IFLS team.Implements and monitors workflow processes at the program level while the Operations Manager maintains overall institutional and external relationships.Promotes consistency across projects and ensures accurate reporting of outcomes and timelines.Communication and Partnership Support :
Facilitates internal communication across IFLS programs ensuring clear information flow between the Executive Director Operations Manager and program teams.
Collaborates with the Program Coordinator on public-facing materials including social media updates newsletters and reports that reflect program impact.Represents the Institute with professionalism and clarity of mission in meetings and partner interactions.General Expectations :

Strong organizational management and analytical skills.Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver results under deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Experience supervising staff or student workers.Proficiency in Google Workspace Microsoft Office and project management tools. Grade 10 : $25.94 to $29.83 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
