Financial Controller 💰

We're looking for a dedicated Financial Controller to join our Houston based heavy construction industry client. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional who can manage our accounting operations and financial reporting. You'll be a key member of our team, providing financial leadership and ensuring our financial statements are accurate and compliant.

Responsibilities 💼

  • Oversee all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and cost accounting.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and publish timely financial statements and provide analysis to senior management.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and liaise with external auditors.
  • Manage and mentor a team of up to four accounting professionals.
  • Provide financial guidance to support strategic business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Qualifications and Skills 🛠️

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Proven experience in a company with less than $100 million in gross revenue.
  • Strong expertise in GL Accounting and Reporting from record to report.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience managing a team of up to four people.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

    • Preferred Qualifications ✅

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Prior public accounting experience.
  • Experience in the heavy construction industry.
