Job Description

The Department of Computer Science at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) invites applications for a 9-Month Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Computer Science to begin Fall . The department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Computer Science, as well as BS and MS degrees in Geospatial Sciences.

The primary responsibilities of this position include : teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses, establishing and leading an active, externally funded research program, publishing research findings in reputable journals or conferences, and advising undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. While all areas of computer science will be considered, the department particularly welcomes applicants with research expertise in the following areas (though not limited to these) :

AI and Machine Learning

Cybersecurity and Privacy

Robotics and Autonomous Systems

Cloud Computing and Edge Computing

The Department of Computer Science prepares students to pursue productive careers and advanced degrees in computer science or geospatial information science. Information about the department is available at The department faculty direct various research labs including MANTIS Lab, iCORE Lab, AioE Lab, Pegasus Lab for High Performance Systems, Software and System Security Lab, and Cybersecurity Research and Innovation Lab (CRIL), and have research collaborations with the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science, Harte Research Institute, and Autonomy Research Institute. The department has 23 full-time faculty with more than BS, MS and 30 doctoral students.

The department’s faculty are active in research areas including machine learning, cybersecurity, computer networks, software engineering, high performance computing, IoT, UAS, and geospatial systems.

Required Qualifications :

An earned Doctoral Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

A strong track record of original research with publications in leading venues such as IEEE / ACM.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels or evidence of teaching potential and in supervising undergraduate and graduate students.

Evidence of grant-funded research and interdisciplinary expertise.

Scholarly publications in peer-reviewed venues.

Experience in AI / Machine Learning, especially Generative AI, Explainable AI.

Experience in Cybersecurity and Privacy, IoT, software security, and cyber-physical systems.

Experience in Mobile software development, Game software development, Databases, Operating systems, Distributed systems, and Cloud computing.
