Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a mid-shift Emergency Department position in an acute care setting requiring CA RN license and recent pediatric and adult ER experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospitalAssignment covers both adult and pediatric ER populationsMid-shift hours are 3 : 00 pm to 3 : 30 am, with evening and night shifts requiredMust work every other weekend and cover 2 out of every 3 holidaysFloating to Pediatric ER is required as neededNo block scheduling; flexibility with scheduling is requiredAdult ER features 18 beds and 10 moderate care reclining chairs; Pediatric ER has 5 beds and 5 reclining chairsCaseload includes minor walk-ins, critically ill adults and pediatrics, respiratory failure, STEMI, CVA, trauma, burns, psych holds, and substance abuse casesNurse-to-patient ratios include ICU 1 : 2, peds 1 : 4, adults 1 : 4, and procedural sedation 1 : 1Cerner is the charting system in useAssignment is 13 weeks in lengthAll candidates must be able to work with both pediatric and adult emergency populations, as roughly half of patient volume is pediatricThe department is a STEMI, CVA, burn, and pediatric receiving center with high patient volumeTeam-oriented environment where all members, including EMS, are valued and treated respectfullyOrientation is provided, including 12 hours and education sessions with ER educatorScrub color for RNs is navy blueTravelers will be first to float if neededMust be able to pass assigned EKG and procedural sedation curriculum testing during orientationNo previous full time, part time, or PRN employment at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past yearRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience requiredExperience with both adult and pediatric ER patients is requiredCurrent certifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSSBasic EKG interpretation skills required; critical care RNs will have additional testingAbility to float between adult and pediatric ER as neededNo travel teams or duos accepted; individual travelers onlyFirst-time travelers will not be consideredReferences required from one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibilityCopy of driver's license required for considerationBenefits
