The Restaurant
Bastia is a Sardinian and Corsican restaurant in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We are located in the beautiful Hotel Anna & Bel, which is a 50-room hotel that was honored with a Michelin Key during its first year in operation.
The restaurant has opened to wide acclaim, including the highest 4-star rating Philadelphia Magazine, which named Bastia the #1 restaurant in Philly during our first year open. We have also been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and many other national publications.

The Role
The Maitre D at Bastia is responsible for delivering excellence in guest service by developing relationships with guests, providing personalized service, anticipating and delivering guests’ needs, supporting leadership and ensuring guest reservations are honored, helping to collate and quality-check menus, respond to guest inquiries, helping to train other hosts, and ensuring that standards are upheld by other members of the host team.
Most importantly this role sets the tone for the entire guest experience at Bastia and Caletta, delivering both warm welcomes and earnest goodbyes. The Maitre D ensures that all guest needs are taken care of with clear, genuine communication and flawless execution.
We are seeking a polished individual for this role who can truly own this role 4-5 nights a week. Intimate familiarity with the OpenTable platform and 2+ years in fine dining or casual fine dining are strongly preferred. Weekend availability is required.
Responsibilities
- Be an ambassador of Bastia, Caletta, and Hotel Anna & Bel, ensuring that everyone is met with a smile and a heartfelt welcome
- Be armed with all necessary information about the restaurant, bar, and hotel to exceed guest expectations
- Weave your own personality into the role while adhering to service standards, both through your own style of communication and fashion sensibilities
- Mastery of OpenTable functions and constant awareness of service dynamics that are affecting the initial guest experience
- Provide excellent, friendly, and professional service to internal and external guests in all interactions
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of host stand areas
- Communicate effectively with restaurant management and team members
- Maintain knowledge of dining room layout, reservation procedures, house count, and department policies.
- Attend to guest needs, handle complaints professionally, and maintain confidentiality while promoting positive guest relations
- Quality-checking menus and communicating production needs to management
