Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our IT team in supporting the infrastructure needs of our 3PL warehouse and distribution operations across Los Angeles County. This role is pivotal in ensuring high availability, security, and performance of our enterprise network, which supports mission-critical systems such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), transportation platforms, EDI processes, and cloud-based business tools. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on network engineer with deep knowledge of networking technologies, security protocols, and strong troubleshooting capabilities, especially in fast-paced, multi-site warehouse environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Network Architecture, Design & Implementation
Design, deploy, and manage complex enterprise network topologies across multiple warehouse facilities, ensuring optimal performance and redundancy.
Implement and maintain EVPN-VXLAN architectures to support scalable, segmented network environments across the enterprise.Configure and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, AP, firewalls, and load balancers, to support high-performance and reliable network connectivity.Configure and optimize Layer 2 / 3 routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and VLAN segmentation in dynamic warehouse environments.Collaborate with IT leadership to develop scalable, secure network blueprints for current and future sites.Hardware & Technology OperationsMaintain and support Cisco Meraki switches, firewalls, and wireless access points across all facilities.
Administer and secure Palo Alto Networks firewalls, ensuring strict access control, NAT configurations, and high availability.Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot VPN tunnels, remote access solutions, and site-to-site connectivity across distribution centers.Network Security & ComplianceImplement, monitor, and maintain security best practices including firewall policies, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and endpoint traffic filtering.
Coordinate with cybersecurity stakeholders to ensure networks are compliant with corporate, industry, and regulatory standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, CTPAT, etc.).Conduct periodic security assessments and penetration tests, and respond promptly to network security alerts or incidents.Network Monitoring & TroubleshootingUtilize tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, and Nagios to proactively monitor and diagnose network performance issues.
Perform packet captures and traffic analysis to resolve complex latency or connectivity issues across wireless and wired infrastructures.Lead root cause analysis and documentation of all major incidents, including downtime, degradation, or security events.Collaboration & Project SupportWork closely with cross-functional teams including IT Operations, WMS / ERP Admins, Facilities, and 3PL customers to ensure network readiness for system upgrades, facility expansions, and new implementations.
Provide onsite or remote support during key project phases like warehouse go-lives, equipment rollouts, or vendor integrations.Document network topologies, configuration baselines, and disaster recovery protocols.Maintenance & Lifecycle ManagementPlan and execute network hardware upgrades, firmware patches, and lifecycle refreshes.
Maintain accurate inventories of network equipment and licensing compliance.Minimum Required Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a Network Engineering or related infrastructure role.Live in the Southern California Area - No relocation offered.Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience.Expert-level knowledge of TCP / IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and Layer 2 / 3 switching / routing.Proven deployment and operational experience with EVPN-VXLAN.Strong hands-on experience with Meraki dashboard configurations and troubleshooting.Deep understanding of Palo Alto Networks firewalls, security policies, and threat prevention features.Experience with VPN, IPSec tunnels, and secure remote access solutions.Familiarity with wireless networks in warehouse settings, including RF scanner connectivity and signal coverage optimization.Proficiency in network diagnostic tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, or Nagios.Excellent troubleshooting and incident response skills — must be able to identify root cause quickly in high-pressure environments.Certifications such as PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer), JNCIP, CCNP, or equivalent.Experience working in 3PL, logistics, or supply chain environments.Knowledge of WMS / ERP systems and how network connectivity impacts real-time warehouse operations.Experience with VoIP, camera systems, and warehouse automation networks is a plus.Soft Skills & Expectations
