Forsyth County's Tax Administration has an excellent opportunity for someone looking to become a part of the Tax Department's management team. The Tax Administration Department has an open Tax Manager position. The Tax Manager plans and coordinates the work for the listing, appraisal, and collections functions. You will be able to use your knowledge of the laws and policies pertaining to listing, appraisal, personal property, and the billing and collections of taxes on a daily basis. This position is responsible for supervising staff operations. You may be assigned to any area of the tax office. Independent judgment and initiative are required as are tact and courtesy in dealing with the public.

Maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Communicate courteously with the public. Maintain accurate records and balance accounts.

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from a two-year college with an Associate's degree in business, accounting, public administration or closely related area and one year of supervisory experience. Two years experience in a county tax environment to include real estate, personal property tax assessment and collections preferred. Or Graduation from high school or GED with one year of supervisory experience or two years of experience as a tax office lead, senior or equivalent and four total years of experience in tax environment in any of the following areas including real estate, personal property tax assessment and / or collections. A valid driver's license is required. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Supervises annual business personal property and individual personal property listing workflow and management of all deferment programs. Supervises collection of current and delinquent taxes and other non tax revenues. Supervises the appraisals of real estate during ongoing and reappraisal activities for tax purposes and ensures compliance with laws and regulations. Trains staff on tax policy, tax software systems and all department policies. Sets department work schedules and work assignments. Evaluates the performance of employees and address issues involving disciplinary action. Assists with the development of department policies and manuals. Defends appeals of real estate, personal property and business personal property values and other related matters to the Board of Equalization and Review and the North Carolina Property Tax Commission. An employee in this position may at any time be responsible to oversee staff and have oversight of the operations in any area of the tax office.
