Title : Cost Engineer – Electrical Systems (LV / HV Wiring, Connectors, Harness Components)
Job Description :
- Scope of the activity is to provide support for Global Cost Engineering teams.
- Cost Engineer will be responsible to develop technical variable and tooling costs for an assigned set of components and systems using activity-based costing methodologies while working from BOM (Bill of Materials), drawings and / or samples. Engineers provide subject matter expertise to support engineering and purchasing at working levels and vehicle program leadership through all development phases.
- The Engineer must have the ability to analyze supplier quotes and reach agreement on appropriate costs.
- Additionally, the Engineer needs to be able to interact with the team in Design to Cost initiatives, benchmarking, Direct material and tooling costs.
Responsibilities :
The requested activities consist of :Supporting projects with cost support from early development phases / milestones to the serial life of the component domain requested.Development of Costing in support of Technical Estimation and / or Should Cost based on technical features, specifications and Bill of Material.Cost Engineering with experience in Low Voltage Wiring, High Voltage Wiring, Connectors and Wiring Components.Experience in Busbars, High Voltage systems, Fuse boxes, Starter Motor or Batteries can be also considered for this position.Propose economic savings and optimization during vehicle milestones and cost target development.Support as an active cross-functional teammate to Engineering, Vehicle Team, Purchasing. Providing data driven cost deltas for target and quote gap closure.Help and Support Negotiation during Component RFQ, Change Notes, Vehicle milestonesUtilize Client Methodology and cost database / calculators to develop and deliver cost analysisSupport Client Benchmarking & Purchasing / Engineering Commodity StrategiesPerimeter in Scope :
Cost Engineer perimeter includes assigned components within a sub-unit team within PCE.Sub-Units are defined by Body, Chassis, Interior, Electrical Components / Modules, Propulsion teams.Input :
Client will provide the method to perform Cost Engineering activities along with internal Costing Tools to be utilized to perform work.Output
Cost Engineer will be expected to provide output of cost analysis within appropriate systems / files as defined by Client. Examples of expected outputs are :Cost Analysis results documented and presented to vehicle program teams as regionally requiredInputs within Global PCE Documenting and KPI Tracking SystemsDesign to Cost and Technical saving ideas placed into Portfolio Cost Opportunities databaseRequested Competences
Cost Engineers are expected to have the following competences, Basic Qualifications :Bachelor in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or EngineeringExperience in design, release or processing role; or other credentials in combination with relevant experience in developing variable and / or tooling costs for automotive componentsAutomotive knowledge of production methods and development processes in the vehicle sectorDetail oriented with ability to manage multiple programs and cost details simultaneouslySolid leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with English as official language for communication (written and oral)Ability to work in a global teamPreferred Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.Advanced Degree in Business.Cost Engineering with experience in Low Voltage Wiring, High Voltage Wiring, Connectors and Wiring Components.Experience in Busbars, High Voltage systems, Fuse boxes, Starter Motor or Batteries can be also considered for this position.Proficiency in NX and Teamcenter.Activity based costing experience or experience in cost model development.
