Primary Purpose of Position
The Instructional Technology Consultant – STEPS4GROWTH (ITC-S4G) will coordinate technical work supporting the development of curriculum technology to be used in Clean Energy Training across (4) Vertical Clean Energy sectors and (10) Horizontal. Vertical sectors and Horizontal Thrusts are the primary work breakdown units in the program.
This person will also oversee the day-to-day work of the NC A&T students working in this focus-area on the program. The ITC-S4G will support technical needs for advanced educational technology involving Virtual Reality training across of all Verticals sectors and Horizontal Thrusts, including all aspects of research and technical writing. The ITC-S4G will analyze IT and business systems problems, offer technical and analytical support, and supervise staff while providing training in VR technology and pedagogy. (S)He serves as the connection point between current and emerging technologies, best practices in online pedagogy, instructional design, technology training, and student learning. The (ITC-S4G) will collaborate with faculty, staff, and academic leaders both at NC A&T and with our Educational Partners to promote effective technology integration, ensuring optimal performance and user support. The ITC-S4G will be active in grant writing activities that support STEPS4GROWTH.
Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Incumbents routinely perform approximately 80% of the duties below.
1. Provides technical and pedagogical support services including documentation for students, faculty, and staff in the use of assigned third party educational technologies.2. Serves as Program Manager providing technical leadership during planning, coordinating, and review through all phases of projects; Manage projects and leads the implementations and retiring of educational technologies.3. Plans, conducts, and directs the analysis of complex informational technology and business systems problems; Provides technical and analytical support.4. Provides technology and related pedagogy training for faculty and staff and other stakeholders of STEPS4GROWTH. Shares knowledge of online course design techniques and principles using VR as it relates to technology.6. Monitors performance of adopted educational technology VR tools and remediates, troubleshoots issues; tests platforms and functional integration of these systems to optimize efficiencies, stability, and user experience.7. Possess deep functional knowledge of learning management systems and education technologies.8. Provides technical support to users of academic technologies to ensure investment is maximized and users can perform necessary work functions.9. Coordinates support activities between internal and external stakeholders.10. Develops and maintains standards for educational technologies and other instructional technology applications.11. Identifies, evaluates, and recommends new technologies that support teaching and learning inresponse to pedagogical needs.12. Develops, evaluates, and improves processes and use of systems. Creates educational technology life cycle plans. Develops reports and presentations.13. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. The Ph.D. in Computational Data Science and Engineering is an interdisciplinary graduate program designed for students who seek to use advanced computational methods to solve problems involving big data, extensive computations, and complex modeling, simulation, optimization and visualization.
The M.S. in Data Science and Engineering is an interdisciplinary graduate program designed for students who seek to use computing and data science and engineering to solve problems involving big data, extensive computations, and complex modeling, simulation, optimization and visualization.
The mission of the Department of Computational Data Science and Engineering is to graduate professionals who (a) have expertise in developing novel computational methodologies and products, and / or (b) have extended their expertise in specific disciplines (in science, technology, engineering, and socioeconomics) with computational tools.
Research in Computational Data Science and Engineering includes : big data and computational statistics, AI and Machine Learning, internet of things, large and complex systems, intelligent transportation and infrastructure systems, remote sensing, autonomous vehicles, virtual and augmented reality, e-commerce, image and video processing, scientific and interactive visualization, high-performance computing, scalable algorithms, bioinformatics, and multi-scale multi-physics engineering systems.
Minimum Requirements Master’s degree in related field and at least 3 years’ experience in the industry utilizing related skills Or Doctorate and 1 year experience utilizing related skills.
