School Nurse (LPN) Washington Park Elementary

BASIC FUNCTION / PURPOSE

To support the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and wellness in a school.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide school heath services including giving attention to sick or injured students
• Administer screenings (hearing, vision, scoliosis)
• Perform special health procedures and assist students with administration of medication as necessary
• Set up and run school clinic services in accordance with school, district, and state guidelines and procedures
• Maintain an orderly clinic area and records of students who visited
• Follow system protocol and procedures in follow-up with parents
• Prepare and submit all reports as required
• Monitor and report child abuse or neglect following district procedures
• Serve as a resource on health issues within the school
• Provide any requested professional learning on health issues to the staff
• Serve as a resource to health classes
• Other duties as assigned
