Assist in plot layout, planting, maintenance of peanut field plots during growing season, and harvest during harvest season.

Assist in measuring, preparing, small amounts of fungicides for leaf spot control experiments, and in-field mixing during the application process.

Assist in drying and weighing yield bags, obtaining grade samples, shelling peanut grade samples and evaluating samples.

FTE : Position Summary :

This job will assist with peanut leaf spot and tomato spotted wilt field and greenhouse experiments during the growing and harvest season. This role will assist in plot layout, planting, treatment preparation and application, and plot maintenance. This position will also be involved in disease evaluations and first-level data management such as copying, filing, and providing copies to the primary investigator.

Relevant / Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position :

High school diploma, driver’s license

Physical Demands :

Standing, lifting, enduring outside elements for extended periods of time.

This position will operate farm machinery and peanut shelling / grading equipment, work safely with both registered and experimental pesticides, and handle bags of harvested peanuts (~40 pounds) during the harvest process.

This position will complete some in-state travel, primarily to UGA research stations in Plains and Attapulgus, as well as on-farm research / demo sites.
