Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join our team in a vibrant regional healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest. This role involves performing complex, moderately complex, and waived laboratory testing under general supervision, ensuring adherence to laboratory policies and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, complying with unit-based safety and infection control protocols.
- Handle and process specimens according to established procedures, accurately performing tests and documenting patient results.
- Manage workload efficiently to prioritize testing for urgent cases, meeting turnaround time goals.
- Conduct proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, calibrations, and quality control / assurance activities as required.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting test performance or result reporting, documenting corrective actions and communicating with technical specialists.
- Adhere to infection control practices and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- For CLS Trainees : duties are limited to specimen processing and setup without performing or verifying tests or releasing results.
Education
Must meet educational requirements for Clinical Laboratory Scientist licensure.Licenses and Certifications
Valid state license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist is required.CLS Trainees must obtain a Clinical Laboratory Scientist license within 120 days of hire.Experience and Skills
Strong judgment and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.All candidates must successfully complete a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment. Compliance with regional COVID-19 vaccination mandates is required, with documented proof or approved exceptions.
