Des Moines Public Schools is seeking an Advanced Learning Program Consultant.

Job Summary :

Advanced Learning Program Consultants serve advanced learners in assigned buildings and work with teachers in their buildings to serve advanced learners in their classrooms. Advanced Learning Program Consultants are instructional and support professionals who provide diagnostic educational evaluation, placement and programming recommendations and resources, and specific targeted interventions for identified advanced learners in accordance with Iowa Code. The consultant’s objective is to maximize the high potential of all identified students as well as serving their cognitive and affective needs. The consultant serves as an advocate working in collaboration primarily with teachers and identified students, but also with building teams and administrators, department teams, district teams and administrators, parents, and community members / organizations.

Successful candidates for this position will possess :

Valid Iowa teaching license with GT endorsement (or ability to obtain prior to beginning of employment)

At least two years of successful classroom experience

Highly Qualified Candidates for the position will possess :

MA or MSE

Five years of successful classroom teaching

Experience working with advanced learners

Position Details :

Contract days vary by assignment

7.75 hours

Salary schedule attached.

Candidates offered employment will be compensated based on skills, work experience and education.
