Here is a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities you would be required to fulfill for this role, although it is not exhaustive these are the main components of the position :

Hard Skills Required :

An ideal automotive technician will be, have, and do the following :

• Follow industry-standard testing & diagnostic procedures to diagnose and solve vehicle malfunctions efficiently
• Consistently cultivate a clean, safe working environment
• Perform baseline auto care and routine maintenance tasks such as changing the oil, checking the fluid levels, and rotating tires.
• Accurately test the functionality levels of various parts and systems including certain electrical and electronic systems with the ability to perform repairs including brakes and steering systems, transmissions, and fuel components, cooling components, and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling
• Ability to change, balance, and install tires.
