The Role

We are seeking a high-performing hospitality leader to serve as General Manager of our University Hill café in Boulder—with a clear, defined path to Director of Operations as Alpine Modern expands.

This is not just a GM role. It is the ground floor of a multi-unit leadership career with Alpine Modern. You'll begin by managing our Hill café with operational excellence and hospitality at the forefront. Within 18–24 months, you'll play a central role in opening new cafés and, as we grow to three or more locations, transition into Director of Operations, overseeing all General Managers and café operations.

This isn't a starter role—it's for a true professional who brings rigor to financial management, excellence to operations, and heart to hospitality, while also bringing the drive and ambition to grow into senior leadership.

Guest Experience & Environment

Lead the team in delivering warm, genuine hospitality to every guest—no matter who they are or what they order

Maintain an intentional, beautiful café environment through attention to detail in music, lighting, cleanliness, and tone

Be present and hands-on during key shifts, modeling hospitality and solving problems before they become visible

Operational Execution

Own daily execution : scheduling, inventory, ordering, vendor management, equipment maintenance

Ensure food and beverage meet Alpine's high standards for quality, consistency, and presentation

Lead team communication and coaching around health, safety, and performance

Manage and report on the "Big 4" metrics : Top-Line Sales, COGS, Labor Cost, and Net Income / EBITDA

Use your financial acumen to analyze trends, spot inefficiencies, and drive profitability

Balance generosity with discipline : invest in your team and guest experience while eliminating waste

Growth & Development (Future-Focused)

Partner with ownership on new store openings, bringing Alpine Modern's culture and standards into new markets

Train and develop future General Managers as the company expands

Build systems and processes that will scale across multiple locations

Transition into Director of Operations, leading café managers and guiding overall operational strategy

Who You Are

A hospitality professional with 3+ years of GM or multi-unit leadership experience in a high-quality café or fast-casual setting

Equally comfortable in a staff training session, a P&L review, or a new store opening

Obsessed with operational excellence, but grounded in the human side of leadership

Ambitious and entrepreneurial, with a hunger to grow into a Director-level role

Energized by a mission-driven brand and the opportunity to shape its growth
