Summary of Job Duties :

Learn and operate a centralized computer system and LIS in the laboratory. Verify patient identity and test(s) to be performed prior to specimen collection. Accurately collect and process appropriate patient samples for diagnosis treatment and prevention of disease. Tracks specimens per PWHC protocol (labeling; processing via practice management specimen etc.) Following Universal precautions as defined in the policy for the collection and disposal of specimens. Perform basic waived testing as well as CBCs when needed. Utilizes good handwashing and wears protective equipment as appropriate. Maintaining a clean work / lab draw area. Maintaining medical equipment such as needles test tubes and blood vials. Disposing of sharps and bio-hazardous materials as per protocol. Understands the importance of and adheres to all HIPAA / confidentiality policies procedures and regulations.

Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.

High School Diploma

Phlebotomist Certification

For Starting Salary of $42000 :

High School Diploma

Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification

For Starting Salary of $4500 :

Bachelors degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution of higher education

Preferred Qualifications :

At least one year of experience in a clinical laboratory

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs) :

Knowledge of the principles of Quality Control related to test kits

Excellent attention to detail

Excellent computer skills

Ability to maintain records accurately

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to perform waived tests and interpret results

Ability to maintain laboratory equipment
