Job Details :

Work 12-hour shifts at 7 : 00 AM or 7 : 00 PM

Night shifts with every other weekend requirement

Holiday requirement : 2 out of 3 holidays

Patient ratios : 1 nurse to 2 patients

8-bed PICU unit with average census of 2 patients

Required certifications : BLS and PALS

Minimum 2 years PICU experience required

No first-time travelers accepted

Dress code : Navy blue scrubs

Use Cerner EMR system and Medfusion pumps

Work with Spacelab tele monitors - nurses must read own strips

Manage ventilators and various respiratory equipment

Float to general pediatrics, burn unit for non-burn pediatric care, and NICU (voluntary)

Travelers are first to float when census is low

May be placed on standby if census is low

Rarely serve as charge nurse

No nurse aides available

Floor-specific orientation : 2 PICU shifts, 1 pediatrics shift, 1 burn unit shift

Treat patients with respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, suicide attempts, overdoses, poisoning, and diabetic ketoacidosis

Manage titratable drips including insulin, sedatives, heparin, and electrolyte replacements

This healthcare facility features an 8-bed pediatric intensive care unit with 24 / 7 pediatric hospitalist intensivist coverage and comprehensive support services. The facility maintains respiratory therapy services around the clock, 24 / 7 pharmacy support, and specialized equipment for critical pediatric care. The organization provides a full spectrum of pediatric services including general pediatrics, burn care, and NICU services, ensuring comprehensive care for critically ill children.
