DC Blox operates on a hybrid schedule. We work in the office Tuesday - Thursday and remote on Mondays and Fridays.

Description Summary :

The Assistant Controller will play a key role in leading the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, overseeing internal controls, and managing the month-end and year-end close processes. You will collaborate closely with finance leadership to enhance financial processes, support audits, and contribute to strategic decision-making.

Essential Duties :

  • Lead and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all reconciliations and reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis to support company objectives.
  • Serve as liaison to external auditors for annual audits, coordinating and providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and analyze ad hoc financial reports to support decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Mentor and support junior accounting staff to ensure professional development and effective team performance.

Education / Training / Experience :

  • Bachelor's / Masters degree in Accounting; CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with financial analysis tools is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead a team effectively.
