SUMMARY : To assist in providing a well-organized smoothly functioning environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing the activities / work assignments for individual students e.g. individuals and small groups.
• Follow a lesson plan chart or guide created by teacher(s) and / or instructional assistant.
• Moves about classroom to help students and provide support.
• Assist the teacher in evaluating the progress of students.
• Assist teacher in maintaining positive behavior and control to ensure student safety.
• Maintain adequate and legible records concerning students whom they support.
• Respond to new ideas methods and suggestions from teachers and aides.
• Consult frequently with the teacher about the needs suggestions questions problems and progress of students.
• Demonstrate professional and flexible attitude / rapport with other staff members.
• Demonstrate appropriate interaction with the students in the learning environment.
• Assist the teacher(s) with preparation of instructional materials.
• Maintain all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Establish and maintain good rapport with students employees and community members.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Remain current in existing and emerging technology and software.
• Other job related duties as assigned.

Positions in this class require : stooping crouching reaching standing walking fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work : Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions : Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
