Social Media Specialist

Position Summary

The Social Media Specialist supports the strategy, content creation and daily management of Phoenix Childrens social media presence across multiple platforms. This position plays a key role in bringing the health systems brand, mission and values to life online through engaging, informative and consistent social media storytelling. The specialist assists with developing, posting, monitoring and reporting on content that builds community engagement and strengthens Phoenix Childrens reputation as a leader in pediatric healthcare.

This role requires creativity, attention to detail, strong writing and visual communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to highlight stories that inspire and inform. The Social Media Specialist works closely with the Social Media Manager and other members of the Creative Strategy and Communications teams to ensure all social media efforts align with organizational goals and brand standards.

Position Duties

• Social Media Content & Community Management

Assists with developing and publishing content across Phoenix Childrens social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.

Drafts and schedules posts using social media management tools such as SproutSocial.

Engages with audiences by responding to comments, reviews, questions and messages in a timely and professional manner.

Monitors community feedback and escalates sensitive inquiries as needed.

Supports clinician and executive social media accounts while maintaining brand voice and professionalism.

Stays up to date with trends, platform updates and best practices in healthcare and social media communications.

Produces visual and written content that aligns with the Phoenix Childrens brand tone, style and messaging.

Leads with a video-first approach, producing short-form vertical videos that reflect current styles, formats and platform aesthetics.

Captures photos and short videos at events, clinics and campus locations to highlight staff, patients and community stories. Must be comfortable posting in real time from events, capturing authentic moments and engaging audiences instantly.

Conducts interviews on and off camera with families and staff to support storytelling.

Assists in editing and creating platform-specific social media graphics and / or videos for social posts.

Maintains and updates content calendars to ensure strategic alignment across platforms and campaigns.

Partners with internal departments, including clinicians and marketing colleagues to curate and repurpose relevant content.

Tracks engagement, reach and other KPIs across all social media channels.

Compiles monthly analytics reports to assess content performance and audience trends.

Recommends opportunities for improvement and experimentation based on data insights.

Ensures that all content follows Phoenix Childrens brand guidelines.

Assists with maintaining and updating training materials for clinical and departmental social media accounts.

Supports the Social Media Manager in organizing quarterly training sessions and providing one-on-one guidance to account administrators.
