Communications Engineer

Overview

Joby Aviations flight research team is looking for a passionate Communications Engineer to join our growing team. The Communications Engineer will work closely with Software, Hardware, Systems, and Flight Test teams to ensure the communications system meets the needs of the flight research programs. This includes enabling wireless communication for a variety of experimental aircraft and supporting requirements development for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) uncrewed aircraft operations. This position requires a solid understanding of RF communications and networking, and a willingness to learn the complex trade-offs involved in system design across both aircraft systems and ground control stations.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and test aircraft and ground wireless communications systems.
• Test and evaluate vendor data links (LOS, SATCOM), and networking technologies
• Support Systems Integration and Test (SIT) planning of test procedures, test equipment / environment, and test execution at bench level as well as aircraft level.
• Support the uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) communication requirements development and verification.

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target pay rate for this position is $95,800 - $127,700 / yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
