About the Role
The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic and operational partner to the President & CEO , ensuring organizational priorities are translated into coordinated, measurable action. This internal-facing leadership role strengthens systems, promotes accountability, and fosters collaboration across departments — with a particular focus on strategic planning, performance alignment, and operational excellence
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Organizational Alignment
- Lead and coordinate the Strategic Planning process with measurable goals and inclusive participation.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership to translate strategic priorities into clear project plans.
- Ensure compliance and readiness for CORES Certification
Operational Excellence & Performance
Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks.Strengthen cross-departmental collaboration and data-driven decision-making.Service Delivery Impact
Partner with the Director of Service Delivery to ensure quality and accountability standards.Facilitate communication between field and national teams.Corporate Engagement & Volunteer Coordination
Lead planning for corporate volunteer events and internal engagement initiatives.New Business Support & Partnership Liaison
Collaborate on new business initiatives with development and property management partners.Executive Support & Culture Leadership
Serve as liaison between the CEO and leadership team to ensure clarity and alignment.Model a collaborative, solutions-focused approach that reinforces Better Tomorrows' values.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred (Nonprofit Management, Business, or related field).7+ years of progressive nonprofit, affordable housing, or mission-driven leadership experience.Demonstrated success in strategic planning, project management, and team alignmentStrong understanding of affordable housing partnerships and / or nonprofit operations.Exceptional communication, organizational, and analytical skills.Positive, professional, and solution-oriented mindset.Why Join Us
