About the Role

The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic and operational partner to the President & CEO , ensuring organizational priorities are translated into coordinated, measurable action. This internal-facing leadership role strengthens systems, promotes accountability, and fosters collaboration across departments — with a particular focus on strategic planning, performance alignment, and operational excellence

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Organizational Alignment

  • Lead and coordinate the Strategic Planning process with measurable goals and inclusive participation.
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership to translate strategic priorities into clear project plans.
  • Ensure compliance and readiness for CORES Certification

Operational Excellence & Performance

  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks.
  • Strengthen cross-departmental collaboration and data-driven decision-making.

    • Service Delivery Impact

  • Partner with the Director of Service Delivery to ensure quality and accountability standards.
  • Facilitate communication between field and national teams.

    • Corporate Engagement & Volunteer Coordination

  • Lead planning for corporate volunteer events and internal engagement initiatives.

    • New Business Support & Partnership Liaison

  • Collaborate on new business initiatives with development and property management partners.

    • Executive Support & Culture Leadership

  • Serve as liaison between the CEO and leadership team to ensure clarity and alignment.
  • Model a collaborative, solutions-focused approach that reinforces Better Tomorrows' values.

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred (Nonprofit Management, Business, or related field).
  • 7+ years of progressive nonprofit, affordable housing, or mission-driven leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, project management, and team alignment
  • Strong understanding of affordable housing partnerships and / or nonprofit operations.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Positive, professional, and solution-oriented mindset.
