Project / Role : Banking Operations Specialist
Duration : 3+ months (potential extension)
Location : Oakland, CA (Remote, within 50 miles)
Role Overview :
Seeking an operational specialist to support Square’s suite of banking products (loans, credit, and other banking services). This role combines customer support, risk mitigation, and process improvement with a focus on delivering a white-glove seller experience .
Key Responsibilities :
- Respond to seller inquiries via CRM tools (email / messaging).
- Review and process applications and business documentation.
- Provide loan / account information to customers.
- Identify trends, escalate issues, and suggest process / product improvements.
- Support compliance efforts through BSA / AML-related responsibilities .
- Meet / exceed SLAs to minimize risk and potential revenue loss.
- Document bugs / features and advocate for seller community.
- Collaborate remotely with teams via messaging tools and video conferencing.
- Contribute to updates for Square Banking support content.
- Develop an understanding of the underwriting process .
Required Skills & Attributes :
1+ years’experience in a financial institution, payment provider, or direct customer-facing role.Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Slack, CRM tools .Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment .Passion for customer success and helping small businesses grow.Flexible, collaborative, and open to feedback.Nice to Have :
Prior risk / compliance (BSA / AML) exposure.Familiarity with banking / underwriting workflows.Experience in process improvement or customer advocacy roles.
