Advanced Steam Fitter

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide direction for and perform repair and maintenance both corrective and preventive of the campus steam distribution and condensate return systems. 1. Steam and Condensate Systems 35% 2. Plumbing 25% 3. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance 20% 4. Welding Technologies 15% 5. Administrative 5% This is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event policy.

Minimum Qualifications

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY ; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK . SOME POSITIONS MAY REQUIRE SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION . OPTIONAL GUIDELINES : EXPERIENCE IN THE TRADE AREA RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR - FOR - YEAR BASIS .

Preferred Qualifications

3 to 5 years of Advanced knowledge of Steam systems Condensate Systems Heat Exchangers and Steam PRV Stations. 3 to 5 years of advanced welding and fabrication experience on steam and plumbing systems. 3 to 5 years Confined Space experience. 3 to 5 years of commercial underground Plumbing and Steam piping experience. Cross Connection Back-flow certification.
