JOB SUMMARY :

A Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) at Integrated Metal Products is responsible for performing the daily weld requirements as well as assisting in daily quality inspections. This roll will be responsible for the day to day weld requirements used throughout the fabrication process. This position requires continual floor inspection and documentation of all welding processes. This roll will also be responsible for verifying machined and fabricated items meet the requirements of drawings, specifications, and contract requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in weld inspection and dimensional inspection.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Perform visual inspections of welds per AWS D1.1.
  • Review and verify welder qualifications and welding procedures.
  • Performing welder certification testing per the requirements of AWS D1.1.
  • Create WPS and associated documentation including qualifying welders, processes, procedures, best practices, etc.
  • Maintain accurate weld records for welder qualifications and weld equipment.
  • Work with fabricators, welders, and project managers to ensure compliance with welding standards.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and generate reports per customer requirements.
  • Monitor weld repairs and verify corrective actions.
  • Perform fit-up inspections and final welding inspections.
  • Daily floor inspections, documentation, general overview of part fit-up.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, height gauge as well as other precision measuring instruments to perform detailed inspections of products.
  • Document inspection results and reports per customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address weld quality issues and solutions.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Active AWS CWI Certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of AWS D1.1 CWI experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Experience with structural steel, piping, or industrial fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of quality inspection methodologies and practices.
  • Proficiency in using tape measure to 1 / 16” of an inch.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with no climate control and perform duties that include walking, standing, bending, crouching, reaching and stretching.
  • Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs.
