The Collins Aerospace Avionics Test Engineering organization has acareer opportunity for a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams developing complex engineering solutions.
The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.
As a key member of the Avionics Test Engineering team, you will primarily support internal customers such as the factory developing and supporting manufacturing and service test solutions for Collins Aerospace products, participating in the entire development lifecycle. These test stations may include but are not limited by the following test equipment : Digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies and electronic loads. You will also support the development of thermal and vibration test equipment and software suites for environmental stress and screening requirements of Collins Aerospace products.
You will be challenged with hardware andsoftware tasks developing product tests for a variety of Collins Aerospace products. If you don’t want to be limited to only hardware or software engineering this position is for you, as knowledge of both are essential to this position.This position will heavily utilize hardware and software development and debug skills on multi-rack test stations used to test Collins Aerospace products.
WHAT YOU WILL DO :
Review product designs and create test solutions that maximize test coverage in the manufacturing and service environments
Design, analyze, test, integrate, and document hardware of moderate to high complexity
Integrate and troubleshoot HW & SW solutions
Work closely with other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical and systems engineering) to ensure the electrical design is appropriate for the project / product design approach
Ability to reverse engineer existing equipment (e.g., documenting something that is already built)
Support automated test software development
Create, review, and verify automated test procedures that will drive software development
Prepare and present project / technical information to peers, internal management and customers
Demonstrate excellent time management skills - ability to multitask and delegate work to support technicians, engineering project assistants, and peers
Develop schedule and budget estimates for engineering development activities
Demonstrate knowledge of hardware processes, tools, methods, workflow, and best practices
QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE :
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experiencean Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
6+ years of experience designing and building custom test hardware solutions.
6+ years ofsoftware development experience.
6 + C# or other software experience in a test engineering environment.
8+ years of experience reading and interpreting electronic schematics.
LabView proficiency.
Test Stand proficiency.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
