Responsibilities

• Assess and provide intervention for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions, and behavioral health issues affecting medical conditions to include assessment and disposition of beneficiaries with acute and chronic risk.
• Consult with primary care providers to select, approve, and document treatment priorities.
• Educate clinic staff on the principles of primary care behavioral health via trainings and briefings.
• Conduct outpatient group classes, stress management, relaxation training, assertive / social skills training, diabetes management, chronic pain, and brief related interventions.
• Assess acute mental and behavioral medicine conditions in beneficiaries.
• Provide individual and group treatment, using various evidence-based modalities to include problem focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducational classes.
• Develop, and implement, professional development activities, coordinates departmental training on PCBH related topics.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health) :

Degree : Doctoral Degree (. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below :

Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual and group therapy, and provides consultation to primary care and specialty clinic providers in a medical setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade / level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-13, you must meet the qualification requirement listed above.

License : A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent Clinical Psychologist licensure from a . State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

1-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Psychology preferred; but not required.
