Database Administrator

Contract Length : 12 months to start

Location : New York, NY (local candidates only)

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Database Administrator to manage and optimize our Microsoft SQL Server and Azure environments. This is a primarily remote, 12-month contract position based in New York City. Candidates must be local and able to travel to the office as needed, at their own expense.

Database Administrator Responsibilities

As a Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance optimization of our database systems.

Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Managed Instance databases

Install, upgrade, patch, and migrate SQL Server databases

Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues efficiently

Ensure database security and regulatory compliance

Monitor and optimize database performance and execute query tuning

Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies

Collaborate with development teams to support application database needs

Stay updated with the latest Microsoft SQL Server and Azure advancements

Document database procedures, standards, and best practices

Participate in on-call rotation and handle assigned tasks proactively

Database Administrator Qualifications

We re looking for a Database Administrator who brings technical depth and a strong sense of responsibility.

5 years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience

Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (on-prem and Azure Managed Instances)

Experience with Always-On High Availability solutions

Solid knowledge of database security, performance tuning, and backup / recovery

Proficiency with Windows Server, Azure Storage, and Azure security fundamentals

Strong SQL skills; Python knowledge is a plus

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field

Microsoft certifications are preferred

Exceptional problem-solving and logical troubleshooting abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong initiative and the ability to work both independently and in teams
