Principal Civil Engineering Project Manager - Infrastructure & Development

A leading engineering firm in San Diego, CA seeks an experienced Principal Project Engineer / Manager to lead high-impact infrastructure and land development initiatives across Southern California. Position Overview

As Principal Project Engineer, you'll guide complex engineering projects from conception to completion while mentoring staff and fostering client relationships. This role puts you at the forefront of landmark infrastructure projects that shape our region's future.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage complex civil engineering projects, including infrastructure development and land use planning
  • Lead preparation of construction documents, contracts, schedules, and budgets
  • Oversee technical design teams and ensure quality deliverables
  • Manage client relationships and agency interactions
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff
  • Review and approve engineering designs and technical specifications
  • Drive business development and maintain key client relationships
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and manage permitting processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • California PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • 8-12 years of relevant civil engineering experience
  • 3+ years managing technical teams
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and engineering software
  • Strong project management and leadership abilities
  • Excellence in client communication and relationship building
