Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a NICU Nursery position in Texas requiring at least two years of NICU experience and active RN licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the NICU Nursery within a hospital setting
  • Staff a minimum of two NICU RNs per shift with 24 / 7 in-house NNP, OB hospitalist, and anesthesiologist coverage
  • Estimated patient ratios of three infants per RN
  • Care for newborn and NICU-level infants, including those requiring specialized support
  • Work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend required
  • Use top of the line equipment such as GE Bedside Monitors, Giraffe and Panda Warmers, Natus Neoblue lights, and Medfusion pumps
  • Document using Meditech and CPN systems
  • Floating to Newborn Nursery may be required as needed
  • No call requirements
  • Assist with line placement, circumcision, and intubation procedures
  • Work as part of a collaborative team with 24 / 7 provider and nurse support
  • Unit features brand new, state-of-the-art equipment and technology
  • Royal blue scrubs are required, purchased from Scrubs and Beyond
  • Strict appearance policy including no nail polish or artificial nails, and covering visible tattoos when possible
  • Body piercings other than ears are not permitted during work
  • Perfume and scented lotion are not allowed on the unit
  • Unit is a brand new service line with a dedicated and high-skill nursing team
  • Holiday coverage and attendance policies follow hospital guidelines

    • Requirements

  • Active TX or Compact RN license required; temporary licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
  • At least two years of recent NICU or specialty experience required
  • Experience with CPAP / ventilation support, central lines, stabilization, and delivery attendance preferred
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
  • Family-centered care experience preferred
