Dental Hygienist

Gresham, OR

Per Diem / PT Time Available

50-55 / Hr +FULL BENEFITS

The Registered Dental Hygienist leads oral hygiene care, providing preventative, therapeutic, and restorative dental services. The RDH educates individuals on their oral health, encouraging and helping them maintain optimal oral hygiene.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Directly administer oral hygiene care, including preventative, therapeutic, and restorative dental treatments.
  • Collect and document data regarding patients' oral health following established policies and procedures.
  • Offer oral hygiene education to patients.
  • Maintain a clinically appropriate work environment that meets environmental health and safety standards.
  • Assist with other office tasks during downtime to ensure positive teamwork and cooperation.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

Qualifications :

  • Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program with at least an associate's degree in applied science.
  • Active Oregon Dental Hygienist License.
  • National Provider Identifier.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Nitrous oxide permit.
  • Basic knowledge of sterilization and infection control equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Restorative function endorsement (only required for Oregon Dental Hygiene license).
  • Responsibilities :

  • Conduct comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including reviewing medical history, periodontal charting, and oral cancer screenings.
  • Administer prophylactic and periodontal maintenance treatments, like scaling, root planning, and polishing.
  • Take and assess high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays).
  • Apply fluoride and dental sealants as needed.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary habits, and preventive care importance.
  • Collaborate effectively with dentists and other clinical staff to create and implement personalized treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and maintain orderly operatory.
  • Ensure patients have a welcoming and comfortable experience, addressing their concerns with empathy.
  • Stay updated on latest dental hygiene practices and technologies.
  • Qualifications :

  • Active Oregon Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license.
  • Local Anesthesia endorsement (preferred, or willingness to acquire).
  • Experience with Dentrix or EagleSoft preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, building rapport with diverse patients.
  • Excellent clinical skills, detail-oriented, and proactive team player committed to continuous learning.
