Project Manager, Healthcare IT (Contract | Hybrid in Columbia, SC)
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare IT Project Manager for a long-term contract role . This position requires candidates to be local to Columbia, South Carolina , with a hybrid work schedule . Only W-2 consultants will be considered.
About the Role
This role will lead complex technology and process improvement initiatives within healthcare systems. The Project Manager will oversee business analysis efforts, ensure requirements are clearly defined, and coordinate system change implementations. This position involves guiding business analysts, collaborating with technical teams, and working closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
What You'll Do
- Lead and coordinate teams of business analysts in documenting requirements and business processes
- Support the development of system change procedures, including classification, evaluation, and prioritization
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams
- Translate high-level business needs into functional specifications and manage changes to those specifications
- Analyze current operations, identify opportunities for automation, and recommend process improvements
- Provide clear communication and negotiation between business and IT from requirements gathering through implementation
- Facilitate risk identification, issue resolution, and action planning
- Participate in requirements management activities such as change control, version control, and traceability
- Research and document business rules, requirements, and data models
Required Qualifications
5+ years experience on government IT projects as a business analyst or project manager5+ years experience gathering and documenting business rules, processes, and requirements5+ years of experience in Medicaid or healthcare programsStrong communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to write requirements and use casesDemonstrated ability to interview business users and analyze policies, regulations, and lawsKnowledge of formal business process documentation and modeling techniquesPreferred Skills
Subject matter expertise in healthcare or insurance operationsMMIS (Medicaid Management Information System) project experienceFamiliarity with Microsoft Project or Project ServerEducation
Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or technology (equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree)
