HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Coordinator are the following :
Plans, organizes, and directs the operations of instructional science laboratoriesDevelops, records, implements, and oversees work / lab policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work and learning environment in support of student learning objectives in coordination with the department chair and faculty.Trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates the performance of assigned laboratory technicians, instructional assistants, and other assigned personnelSchedules personnel including student assistants to support the instructional science laboratory programServes as resource person to instructorsWorks with appropriate Department Chair / Associate Department Chair in developing departmental budget needsMonitors and maintains budges for assigned functions and activities, including specifying, ordering, receiving and issuing materials, parts, and suppliesMonitors expenditures in accordance with policies and proceduresOversees the inventory of equipment and Recommends laboratory equipment and suppliesMaintains inventory of expendable supplies and orders supplies needed for the operation of multiple instructor’s science laboratoriesAcquires, controls, safely stores, operates, maintains, and repairs large inventory of delicate, expensive laboratory equipment, and materials in assigned area, which may include hazardous materials.Acts as the Chemical Hygiene Officer for the science labsEnsures the security of assigned assetsMaintains all appropriate state and federal permits and required annual reportsMaintains current knowledge of and ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory, safety, and health standards and to ensure safe and legal acquisition, use, storage, and disposal of all chemicals and hazardous materials in science labsTeaches up to six classes per year as neededPerforms related duties as assigned.Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Master's degree in the assigned research area, or a bachelor's degree in the assigned research area and two years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Requirements :
Master's degree in Chemistry.
Knowledge of tools and equipment needed for the labs, as well as how to safely use them; safety regulations, procedures & practices; current software needed for instruction.
Ability to lift or move equipment in the lab.
Collegiate Chemistry teaching experience.
