Project Accountant

We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our team in Murrieta, California. The position is within the construction industry and the role will be located onsite. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities :

  • Audit financial documents and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all tax and federal works regulations.
  • Manage all financial transactions, including fixed payments, variable expenses, and subcontractor pay applications.
  • Generate accurate and timely reports using accounting software.
  • Handle all subcontractor billings and necessary paperwork, ensuring that all subcontractors are in compliance on projects and meeting requirements.
  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance of accounts, ensuring cashflow is utilized properly.
  • Support management in the accurate production of monthly project budgets.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely payment of subcontractors once cash receipts for projects are received.
  • Assist in weekly accounts payable check run for vendors.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures as needed and inform executives of changes.
  • Work with the team to manage and update accounting software systems.

Requirements :

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role as a Project Accountant.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required.
  • Experience with ADP - Financial Services is essential.
  • Knowledge of Costpoint software is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Deltek and Deltek Vision systems is required.
  • Experience with About Time software is desirable.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Prior experience in Auditing is highly desirable.
  • Candidates must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
