Sweetwater, the nation’s #1 online retailer of pro audio equipment and music instruments is seeking to hire a Database Engineer to work closely with various teams within the organization. This role will partner with various engineering teams working on our database architecture throughout a diverse enterprise environment. This work includes designing, implementing, and maintaining various database systems.

Job Responsibilities

Maintaining highly available MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB database environments
Assisting developers with query optimization, sustainability, and best practices
Configuration tuning and optimization of databases in various environments across the organization
Administration of database backups, recovery, redundancies, and scalability
Database service account, user, and role management
Work closely with web and application domain experts to design our database systems

Qualifications

Must be a proactive problem solver that takes initiative and can keep up with Sweetwater’s ever changing, fast-paced environment

Strong administration skills in MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB server management

Experience with Schema and Query Analysis

Familiarity with data incident response and troubleshooting

Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available environment

Organized, self-motivated, and has a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive

Able to participate with the team in providing support via an on-call rotation

Can support multi platform / integration in a database environment

Bash\Python Scripting experience

Experience in managing DBaaS products, such as Google CloudSQL systems

Working knowledge of systems such as Proxysql, Pgpool, and DataDog
