e&e is seeking a Network Engineer for a hybrid contract opportunity in Harrisburg, PA!
The Edge Network Engineer will support the planning, design, deployment, and maintenance of local and wide-area network (LAN / WAN) infrastructure across a large, geographically distributed enterprise environment. This role focuses on edge networking and requires a highly technical professional with significant enterprise networking experience. The individual will provide hands-on network management, assist in architecture improvements, support operational teams, and help guide technology evaluation and standards.
Responsibilities :
Network Deployment, Configuration & Management
- Install, configure, maintain, and manage network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, SD-WAN appliances, wireless components, and cellular-based devices.
- Monitor and manage network performance using industry-standard tools; troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems.
Network Architecture & Design
Assist in planning and design of LAN / WAN network architecture including capacity planning and performance analysis.Develop detailed design specifications, schematics, and engineering documentation for enhancements and modifications.Recommend optimized network configurations and assist in designing highly complex network solutions.Operations & Support
Support change management activities for deployments and upgrades; coordinate with cross-functional networking teams.Participate in ServiceNow and Remedy ticket resolution and ensure proper documentation and process compliance.Provide Tier 2 support for widespread network incidents and customer escalations.Proactively identify and resolve complex network issues involving multiple teams and stakeholders.Technical Evaluation & Standards
Participate in evaluating and adopting emerging technologies as part of hardware refresh cycles.Assess current and future network needs and provide recommendations and technical solutions.Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of networking standards and procedures.Documentation & Reporting
Create and maintain documentation for network configurations, deployments, and operational support.Produce Visio diagrams for new and existing networks, including specialized field networks.Maintain troubleshooting logs, architectural diagrams, and procedural documentation.Collaboration & Communication
Communicate effectively with peers, remote IT support teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.Support agency operations staff with network-related deployment and troubleshooting needs.Compliance & Security
Ensure all network configurations meet established security requirements.Obtain and maintain required security clearances.Requirements :
4–5 years of hands-on experience in network switching3–4 years of hands-on experience in network routingStrong troubleshooting and analytical abilities within a large enterprise environmentWorking knowledge of routing protocols, automation practices, and network monitoring toolsExperience supporting multi-agency and distributed infrastructure environmentsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications
CCNA certification (2–3 years desired)CCNP certification (1–3 years beneficial)Experience with SD-WAN technologies (2 years beneficial)Experience with ServiceNow or Remedy ticketing systemsKnowledge of Visio or similar diagramming toolsPhysical & Operational Requirements
