The Inpatient Spinal Cord Injury / Disorder Registered Nurse will function as an integral member of the Spinal Cord Division. These are exciting opportunities to work in a diverse environment. Position offers opportunities to provide bedside care for acute and chronic disease management, palliative care patients, rehabilitation and complex medical patients.

Responsibilities of the incumbent in this position include but are not limited to :

• Managing the day to day needs of an acutely ill patient population with spinal cord injuries / disorders (SCI / D)
• Medication administration and documentation requirements
• Health promotion, Veteran / Caregiver education and supporting patient self-determination
• Collaborative practice with interdisciplinary SCI / D team
• Application of principles of rehabilitation nursing care to promote the highest level of functional independence
• Adhering to established safety practices, delegating and guiding assistive personnel, and supporting process / quality improvement initiatives on the unit and across the organization

An ADN or Diploma in Nursing AND 1 year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I, Level 1 ; OR a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional professional nursing experience required.

Nurse I, Level III

Demonstrates proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations.

An ADN or Diploma in Nursing AND 2 years of professional nursing experience in which one year is equivalent to Nurse I, Level 2; OR a BSN and 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the Nurse I, Level 2; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) and no additional professional nursing experience; OR a Master's degree in a
