Adjunct Teaching Position – Clinical Microbiology

Department of Biological Sciences

St. Edward's University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), invites applications for an adjunct position in the Department of Biological Sciences, beginning January 2026. St. Edward's is characterized by its commitment to the Holy Cross educational mission of educating the hearts and minds of a diverse student body deeply committed to social justice. Candidates should have an interest in and the ability or potential to teach undergraduate courses, as well as support a diverse student body.

The successful candidate will have a background in microbiology and an interest in teaching undergraduate courses to Nursing majors. There are no formal academic advising or university service responsibilities associated with this position, but opportunities to become involved in the Department, the School of Natural Sciences, and the University will be available.

QUALIFICATIONS

For consideration, candidates must possess a master's degree or a minimum of 18 graduate hours in biology or a related field. A PhD in Microbiology or a related field is preferred.

Essential Responsibilities Include :

  • Prepare and teach lecture and laboratory courses in microbiology for Nursing majors (BIOL 2318 / 2118 Clinical Microbiology). The position is for teaching one lecture (three credits) and two labs (three credits each).
  • Supervision of undergraduate teaching assistants
  • Other duties as assigned
