Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is currently initiating a search for an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer for our Saint Louis, MO office. Your impact
The Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its goals of the department, maintain POWER's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.
- Perform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including, but not limited to : One-line diagramsSchematicsWiring diagramsSCADACommunicationsStation physical layoutsSections / ElevationsCable and conduit plans and detailsGround grid design and detailsFoundation plans and detailsStructural plans and detailsControl enclosure design and detailsLightning protection plansYard lighting plansBills of MaterialsSite visits
- Support QA / QC for deliverables to clients
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs.
- The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power optionStrong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build onCandidates should enjoy living in the St Louis area, or have a desire and ability to relocate there with minimal assistanceMust have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelMust be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug / alcohol and harassment policies.Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.Preferred Qualifications
At least three months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basisMinimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation designEngineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examDisclaimer :

Compensation :
Expected Salary (all locations) : $78,000 - $83,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
