Accounts Payable Accountant

NorthWest Research Associates (NWRA; www.nwra.com) is a 70-person earth and space scientific research group, owned and operated by its scientists with three offices in the Western US. This position is located in our Seattle, WA office.

Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting the accounting team with month-end close and audits. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up new vendors in the accounts payable system (MS Dynamics SL) and collect W-9 forms.
• Gather and reconcile necessary supporting documentation and approvals for invoices.
• Assign appropriate general ledger codes and accounting periods to all invoices.
• Ensure state use tax is recorded appropriately.
• Process payments in a timely manner.
• Review, code, and reconcile monthly Visa credit card statements.
• Process travel vouchers and purchase orders.
• Prepare monthly and year-end reports, account schedules, and filings related to AP.
• Maintain regular communication with vendors and assist employees in resolving invoice or payment discrepancies.
• Keep AP files well-organized and up to date.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
