Under the general supervision of the Transportation Planning Director, the IT System Administrator manages and ensures reliability of the Corpus Christi MPO's computer networks, including installing application software and maintaining hardware. In addition, this position develops, maintains, and administers the MPO's websites and social media platforms, along with utilizing graphic design and video editing software to support public involvement and outreach activities.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, planning, engineering, information systems, or another related field is required.
Candidates should have four to six years of progressive experience in computer science, planning, or a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in systems analysis, or a Digital Communications background preferably within a public agency or similar environment.
Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, technical staff and boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Troubleshooting complex systems operating and maintenance problems.
Analyzing, interpreting, and explaining data.
Operation of specialized automated equipment and software.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, CorelDraw, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Vegas Movie Studio or comparable video editing software.
Configuring and installing operating systems software on server, laptops, and desktop computers.
Working knowledge of online virtual meeting software such as Zoom and Teams.
Working knowledge of HTML coding, java script and CSS coding.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public, staff, and other agencies personnel.
Skill in using computers and applicable software, in applying statistical tools to data, in preparing MPO core documents, reports, and in collecting, analyzing, and forecasting demographics and statistics; standard office practices and procedures and familiarization with Microsoft 365 Office Suite. Knowledge of geographic information systems (ArcGIS Pro) is beneficial.
A candidate for employment may be required to submit to drug testing prior to a formal offer of employment. If a positive result occurs, the candidate will be disqualified from employment with Nueces County for one year from the date of the test result. Nueces County Personnel and Civil Service Rules require all newly-hired or rehired individuals to serve a six-month probationary period.
