DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the Pharmacy Technician III will support prescribing providers in processing prior authorizations, facilitating medication access, and other activities for UCSD Health Weight Management clinics. This position will be part of the UCSD Health Centralized Prior Authorization team, so cross-training in other clinical service areas may occur in the future. Pharmacy Technicians in this setting will be responsible for following standard work supporting the prescription prior authorization process and to provide superior patient and provider experience by going above and beyond to mitigate medication access barriers. The Pharmacy Technician will facilitate the completion and submission of prior authorizations; appeals; manufacturer patient assistance programs; grants and any other financial support options. They will communicate the results and / or alternative therapies under the supervision of a pharmacists to the appropriate parties. They will understand the pharmacy payor prior authorization guidelines, assist in chart review and facilitate the patient starting therapy .

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
• Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience required.
• Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
• Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Annual Full Pay Range : $67,756 - $84,209 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $32.45 - $40.33
