Safety Manager
The role of a Safety Manager is to act as a resource for coworkers about how to uphold regulatory safety standards and complete tasks while limiting risk of bodily injury. Safety Managers share knowledge with their team by conducting training and creating informational materials that they post around the workplace.
Required Skills / Abilities :
- Incident management, root cause analysis, and investigation skills; ensures appropriate corrective actions are established, tracked, and completed in a timely manner.
- Knowledgeable in Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and US Environmental Protective Agency (EPA) standards
- Requires general personal computer skills as well as the ability to use Microsoft Operating System and specialized Material Handling Information systems.
- Possess the ability to conduct training for groups of employees in a classroom or field setting with knowledge of adult learner teaching techniques.
- Knowledge of industry best practices relating to process improvements.
- Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment and devices.
- Ability to interface with multiple levels of the organization and communicate effectively to promote buy-in and reduce or eliminate negative associations with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
- May travel up to 25% - 50% annually.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Maintains safety processes and procedures.Conducts investigations into associates' hazard reporting, suggestions, and complaints.Maintain files for all SOI incidents, investigations, recordkeeping, case management, and other documentation.Prepare recurring reports for corporate and program managers' decision-making.Develops procedures and training for compliance with relevant OSHA Standards and business policies.Ensures all incidents are recorded and reported according to regulatory requirements.Works with business unit teams to evaluate, develop, and update safety plans.Engages site leadership and associates to establish and oversee training in emergency response and hazardous material handling.Leverages and analyzes EHS data to identify opportunities for improvement and establish sustainable corrective action plans.Networks across programs to identify, share and implement best practices.Assists with the execution of the ergonomic program through proactive risk management and implementation of corrective action plans.May assist with the corporate administration of the workers' compensation claims as needed.Maintain liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies.Education and / or Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in an Occupational Safety-related field.Will consider 2-3 years of practical EHS work experience in lieu of degree.3 - 5 years of relevant work experience in a safety role is preferred.Ability to oversee safety protocols and lead training sessions.Job Type : Full-time, Salary
