Overview :
The Office of Information Services is a central IT department that manages all aspects of technology infrastructure for the entire University. Within Information services, there is a Technology Infrastructure division consisting of a Servers and Systems team, an AV infrastructure team, and the Network Operations team. Reporting to the Executive Director for Technology Infrastructure and working in the Network Operations team, the Network Engineer is deeply involved in the design, deployment, support, and analysis of all aspects of the University network. The design and deployment include all Internet, core, distribution, and access layer network hardware, wireless infrastructure, core networking services (DNS, DHCP, Radius, etc.), and the development and implementation of network policies and procedures. The support and analysis includes monitoring the network for optimal performance and reliability, upgrading network design to incorporate new technology trends, capacity planning to meet University’s growth, and network security analysis and response. Qualifications :
10 years of experience in planning, designing, and implementing enterprise-level network technologies is required
Hands-on experience with Cisco networking hardware, Juniper Wireless infrastructure, and experience with various routing protocols is preferred
Strong communications skills are required. Must be able to explain difficult abstract concepts verbally, in writing (email, proposals, documentation), and though more formal presentations.
Ability to work collaboratively, cooperatively, and closely with peers and involved senior management is required.
Awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses is required, including an ability to identify and improve in appropriate areas. Must be able to adapt to changing requirements as necessary.
The job occasionally requires work to be performed during overnight and weekend hours.
