SUMMARY

The position of Ready Mix Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a ready mix truck used for the delivery of ready-mix concrete and other associated products to construction sites while maintaining a safety first attitude. This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, MSHA, TCEQ, FMCSA, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery of Ready-Mix Concrete :

Fills water tank, checks slump of load and cleans excess material from truck.Safely drives loaded truck to destination on delivery ticket and / or instructions from dispatch.Ensures all delivery tickets are signed and returned to the plant.Upon arrival, inspects job sites, works with customers to obtain adequate vehicle access and unloads material.Communicates truck status with Dispatch by use of two way radio and encoders.Rinses chutes and rear of truck free of spilled concrete (re-hangs extension chutes as necessary).Returns to same yard or other yard as instructed by dispatch and receives new instructions.Maintain good customer relations. Act in a professional, courteous manner.Maintain a professional appearance.Assists in training of co-workers as needed.

Vehicle Maintenance :

• Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspections and reports vehicle condition at the beginning and the end of each shift.
• Checks all vehicle fluid levels daily and adds fluids as necessary.
• Fuels vehicle as necessary.
• Maintains vehicle cleanliness throughout the day.
• Occasionally uses chipping hammer to remove excess concrete build up.
• Performs minor repairs and assists mechanics in vehicle repairs.
• Changes flat tires with spares and assists tire mechanic as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and / or Experience :

High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Educational requirement can be waived in lieu of work experience.). Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with valid medical card. Meet minimum MVR requirements. Ability to provide high standards of customer service. Ability to clean all areas on the vehicle, climb ladder to inspect loads, and hang extension chutes. Satisfactory work attendance record.

Computer Skills :  Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software.
