Floor Care Technician

Space Center Houston is a space exploration learning destination dedicated to revealing how science and humanity power space exploration through meaningful, moving experiences about people and the courage, innovation, and teamwork they use to expand the boundaries of what's possible. Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate.

We are currently seeking a part-time Floor Care Technician, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal of all floor surfaces throughout the facility using proper equipment, techniques, and cleaning solutions. Responsibilities and qualifications are shown below :

POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES :

• Perform a full range of floor care tasks, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, spot cleaning, and carpet cleaning.
• Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as automatic scrubbers, buffers, extractors, and powered pressure washers.
• Ensure proper handling, mixing, and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Transport equipment and materials to assigned work areas as needed.
• Participate in post-construction clean-up, removing dust, debris, and residue.
• Follow established safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hard hats as required.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with fellow crew members, supervisors, and guests.
• Maintain accurate records and cleaning logs as required.
• Assist with additional cleaning duties such as restroom sanitation, wall washing, and window cleaning when necessary.
• Attend training sessions and meetings to stay up-to-date on procedures and best practices.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.
