Accountant 1 (Department of Transportation & Development)
Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development is seeking a detail-driven accounting professional to join our team as an Accountant 1, where the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial transactions in support of our combined $350M budget.

Youll contribute to month-end and year-end close, perform account reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and oversee tax distribution and pass-through funding for vital community services.
Responsibilities include :
Perform or assist in performing several operational functions, including account reconciliations, month-end closing, year-end closing, and audit workpapers.
Reconcile accounts receivable, cash receipts, and pass-through transactions.
Review and validate the monthly and quarterly reporting worksheets for pass-through funds against the system data; identify discrepancies and perform research to resolve issues.
Support monthly and quarterly pass-through payments using templates that incorporate the reconciliation with journal entries and payment requests.
Work through various distribution models and update the formulas as new data posts.
Run regular financial monitoring reports for management review.
Review source documents for accuracy and proper authorizations.
Reconcile and provide direction for transactions entered by other staff and help navigate automated finance systems.
Review existing processes and recommend updates based on regulatory research.
This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday; specific hours will be discussed at offer time. Hybrid on-site / telework may be available based on the Departments business needs.

Required minimum experience includes three years of accounting experience, three years analyzing financial data, three years working with Microsoft Excel, and one year leading others.
Preferred transferrable skills may include intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, experience in governmental or public sector accounting, streamlining processes, and knowledge of similar ERP software.
