    Minimum Qualifications :

  • Six (6) months of work experience in an animal health-related field; AND
  • Possession of a Certified Veterinary Technician certificate issued by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Board as outlined by OAR 875-030-0010; AND
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire, a Euthanasia Technician certificate issued by the State of Oregon.
  • Preferred Qualifications / Transferable Skills :

  • Two (2) years of Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) experience in a veterinary practice; OR one (1) year of CVT experience in an animal shelter setting.
  • Ability to effectively handle high-stress situations while still demonstrating the key values and mission of MCAS.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting high-volume spay / neuter surgeries.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting in the management of overall population / herd health in a shelter setting, including assisting in the management of infectious disease outbreaks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independent of and in collaboration with veterinarians, other CVTs, and veterinary assistants.
