Warehouse Manager
Responsible for providing leadership to the warehouse operation with warehouse employees and local delivery drivers. Responsibilities include facility layout optimization, hiring, building maintenance, staff utilization, operational metrics and negotiating agreements.
Required : Bachelor degree and 5+ of progressive warehouse management experience in warehouse and transportation operations. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel, Access and Word). Proven leadership abilities to effectively develop, direct, and motivate. Strong analytical, attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to problem solve, multitask, and prioritize work. Excellent communication, time management skills. Can work independently or collaboratively to accomplish objectives and is able to interact effectively with all levels of management.
Preferred : Training in Six Sigma or Lean, experience with WMS, SAP software and 10+ years of progressive warehouse management experience in a union environment.
Essential Duties :
- Effectively lead the department's employees by creating and sharing a common vision & direction as well as understanding of the organization's strategy
- Responsible for the process flow in a high volume order fulfillment multi-shift distribution center.
- Manage processes to ensure compliance with company policies / procedures, continual process improvement.
- Demonstrate and report on productivity increases while implementing cost saving initiatives.
- Develop and implement departmental changes enhancing workflow optimization.
- Ensure the department's physical assets (equipment, RF units, inventory, conveyors, etc.) are properly controlled, maintained, protected, and utilized.
- Collaborates with Human Resources to recruit, develop, train, and administer discipline.
- Develop, monitor and follow up appropriately on all relevant KPIs.
- Operate within & analyzes P&L statements.
- Manage change effectively while engaging staff in process improvement initiatives.
- Budgetary responsibilities include labor, facilities management and capital projects.
- Ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT, and housekeeping regulations
- Establish and maintain all delivery agreements with last mile delivery agents.
- Prepare reports to support Department of Transportation and OSHA regulations.
- Prepare reports for Senior Management regarding distribution center performance.
- Responsible for achieving verifiable productivity increases and cost saving initiatives.
- Establish and communicate performance metrics, standards and objectives.
Supervisory Duties :
Select, train, counsel and develop direct reports.Recommend salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, dismissals and terminations.Set challenging and productive goals for team and hold them accountable.Coach and counsel direct reports on performance issues and takes corrective action if needed.Conduct periodic meetings with direct reports to keep them informed of current problems, changes and new developments in the department and Company.Manage time and attendance of direct reports according to policies and procedures.Plan, schedule, and assign workload as well as monitor work productivity and recommend / implement changes as needed.Complete performance appraisals within assigned timeframes.Cross train direct reports to maximize productivity and provide coverage of all functions. Administer all policies and procedures accordingly as set forth by DON.Perform other duties as assigned.Overview :
